Typically the deeper reefs are the more aesthetically stimulating. This is not the case with Toppino’s Reef. Toppino’s Reef is one of the most beautiful shallow reef dives in Key West with depths ranging from 20 feet to 25 feet. The reef is found about 4.5 miles to the south of the Boca Chica Channel. When you come out here, you will find fifteen massive coral fingers extending out to the sea. These “fingers” provide channels and gullies that allow divers and the sea life to better travel through the waters. Down in the Toppino’s Reef, you will likely run into a variety of small crustaceans, angelfish, butterfly fish and, of course, a huge variety of gorgeous and stunning coral reef. Due to its shallowness, the site is also great for bringing along snorkelers.
