Smith Shoal could be one of the absolute best dives in Key West where it not for the relatively bad visibility. At a depth of 20-40 feet, people still come out to see this fascinating wreck. You will find plate, brain and staghorn corals and several grouper and jewfish. The wreck is about 12 miles to the northwest of Key West and is marked by a 54-foot skeletal-like steel tower that was built in 1933.
