The Nine Foot Stake wreck is one of the shallower and therefore easier wrecks in Key West. It is also one of the best dive sites for excellent underwater photography. Also due to its shallowness, this is one of the best diving sites to go to for a combined trip of divers and snorkelers. The site provides a wide variety of sea life including brain coral (some with diameters as large as six feet), pelagic and reef species of fish, and a bunch of nocturnal species like hermit crab, nudibranches, and anemones. Speaking of nocturnal, this is also one of the premier sites to go to for night diving. The site is located one mile west of the #1 marker and is marked by a nine-foot piling.
